Summary of the decision
VA-05-03-001 — DR. PHILLIPS, INC. - MARCH 3, 2005
Request: (NE 1/4 of NW 1/4 27-23-28 Tract Size: 5.19 acres District #1)
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The applicant has 2 existing ground signs. He wants to place a third ground sign on the site. The purpose of the proposed sign is to identify the office building at the rear of the site. The proposed sign will be 12 feet high and match the office building at the back of the site.
Staff advised the BZA this site is zoned Commercial and qualifies for 2 pole signs. If this request is approved and the applicant constructs the third ground sign, conditions can be imposed that prohibits pole signs. For this reason, staff supports the request with the restrictions.
The President of the condominium project to the north spoke in opposition. He stated the association voted to oppose this request.
The BZA asked the speaker if he realized this site has rights to pole signage. The speaker acknowledged he did not.
The BZA felt it was in the public's best interest to approve the request with the prohibition there be no billboards or pole signs allowed.
