(NOTE: The applicant is proposing a 4-car detached garage apartment for his parents-in-law above a 4-car garage).
Decision: Approved
Hearing: The Staff Report and Recommendation is located on Pages_____. The applicant wants to build a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) for her disabled parents-in-law. It will located in front of the main house and will be above a 4-car garage. Staff had concerns about the size of the structure. However, the applicant agreed to reduce the size of the adu to 1,000 sq. ft. of living area in accordance with the zoning code. The applicant informed the BZA the previous property owner constructed the main house near the lake when the properties were used as fish camps. She indicated several 2-story homes are currently under construction. She agreed to the reduced living area. Staff received several letters in support of the request. The BZA concluded the request was consistent with the development trend of the area and reduced the living area of the ADU to 1,000 sq. ft. There was no opposition.
