Summary of the decision

VA-01-05-036 — Michael and Brenda Dever

Request: Variance in R-CE zone for two story addition to single family residence as follows: 1. Two (2) ft. from side (north) property line in lieu of 10 ft.; 2. Nine (9) ft. from side (south) property line in lieu of 10 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The property is located in an area that was established with homesites in the 1940's and 1950's, prior to the adoption of zoning regulations. R-CE zoning was established in the 1960's. Many of the lots are only 50 feet in width and elongated in shape. Many homes cannot meet the RCE standards for home improvement projects without some measure of variance relief. The applicant's proposed addition is in front of the home, versus the rear, where the lake is located. The footprint of the addition is almost flush with the footprint of the existing home. The property owners on both sides of the property signed letters of no objection to the Variance.
