Request: Special Exception in R-1A zone to convert existing residence to a church use and the following Variances: 1. To allow 14 parking spaces in lieu of 20; 2. To allow unpaved parking in lieu of paved.

Hearing: Staff presented its findings. The site is appropriate for a church use but is too small to accommodate the parking requirements. For that reason, staff could not support the request. The applicant stated they purchased the site for a church use. They were unaware the structure had not been approved for church use. The BZA informed the applicant that the structure needs to be inspected for building and fire requirements. The applicant felt the structure was safe as is. The BZA approved the request subject to numerous conditions.
