Summary of the decision
VA-21-07-056 — Robert Winn
Request: Variance in the A-2 zoning district to allow an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) that is not designed to be similar and compatible with the primary dwelling unit, with the same exterior finish material and similar architectural details. This is the result of Code Enforcement action.
Decision: Approved
Hearing: SYNOPSIS: Staff described the proposal, including the location of the property, the site plan, and photos of the site. Staff provided an analysis of the six (6) criteria and the reasons for a recommendation for approval. Staff noted that one (1) comment was received in support and none in opposition. The applicant stated that they had hired a contractor and found out at the end that it was built without permits. They also noted that the vinyl carport had already been removed. The BZA confirmed that the structure was built for a family member, and that they had hired a contractor, and relied on them to do everything correctly. There was no one in attendance to speak in favor or in opposition to the request. The BZA recommended approval of the variance by a 7-0 vote, subject to the six (6) conditions in the staff report.
