Summary of the decision

VA-03-03-028 — Henry Wahl

Request: Variances in R-1AA (single family-10,000 sq. ft. lots) zone to construct single family residence as follows: 1. 48 ft. from normal high water elevation of Lake Rowena (on rear) in lieu of 50 ft.; 2. 11 ft. from the normal high water elevation (canal on side) in lieu of 50 ft.

Decision: Approved

Hearing: The lot is located in an established residential area where many homes were built close to the lake prior to the adoption of the 50-foot setback requirement. Several Variances were granted for additions to other homes on the lake to be closer to the normal high. The applicant had torn down an old home on-site in preparation for the new home. Several dozen letters and commentaries were received from neighboring property owners indicating they had seen the house plan and supported the Variance to allow the new construction. There was no opposition to this request.
