Hearing: "This is a request to convert an existing active borrow pit to a Class III landfill. The Development Review Committee (DRC) reviewed this request and recommended approval to the BZA, subject to conditions. Staff gave an overview of the approval process and the character of the area. Staff felt the request was consistent with the surrounding land uses. The applicant indicated they met with the surrounding property owners and conducted a community meeting. The applicant concurred with the findings of Staff. An adjacent resident spoke in support of the request. Staff presented a letter to the BZA from a property owner to the northeast. The letter spoke about illegal dumping by customers of the nearby landfill. Staff advised the BZA that these issues are addressed by other agencies and departments. There was no public opposition present at the hearing. Staff received one (1) commentary in favor and one (1) in opposition."
